About Island Waterscape and Design

Island Waterscape & Design Ltd is a Comox Valley-based “Green Industry “  company that specializes in the design, construction, and maintenance of water features, including ponds, streams, waterfalls and fountains.

Whether you want to incorporate your new water feature into an existing landscape or you want a complete landscaping “makeover,” Island Waterscape will make your dream a reality.

Between 2006 and 2009, David has built more than 200 ponds, streams and waterfalls all over Vancouver Island —from Victoria to Campbell River to Tofino and many points in between. With construction projects ranging from a 4 x 6 foot pond to a 55-foot stream to a massive waterfall with over 30,000 gallons per hour flowing over the top, David and his crew have the experience to build whatever you are looking for, no matter what the size.

Having our roots in the landscape construction industry, Island Waterscape can also create a complete landscape for you. Whether it’s for a new home or a renovation of an existing green space, we can design and install your project from start to finish. Contact our office to book a consultation.

The company operates a retail store at 2750 Cumberland Road that sells do-it-yourself kits and pond maintenance products. Island Waterscape also offers consultations and design services for those who prefer to do the water feature construction or kit installation themselves. Store hours are Monday to Friday 7:30 am to 5pm, Saturday 8 am to 4 pm and Sunday 10 am to 4 pm.

Owned by husband-wife team, David and Jane Bossom, the company is committed to customizing recommendations and services for each client and to delivering nothing but the best service possible.

David has always had a keen interest in gardening. After the closure of the Gold River Pulp Mill where David was a lab technician for 8 years, he had the opportunity to graduate from the University of Geulph Horticultural Program through the Okanogan University College in 2000. He started West Coast Garden Solutions, a landscape maintenance and construction company in the same year. David took this company to be one of the best maintenance companies in the Comox Valley. In 2003, he built his first pond which changed his life. David has gone to training seminars from Vancouver all the way to St. Charles, Illinois to learn how to build the best possible ponds and streams. His passion is water and to create beautiful backyard retreats.

Jane is the operations manager behind the business. She brings with her extensive customer service experience from 17 years in municipal government and 7 years in the non-profit sector. Not only does she keep everything running smoothly, Jane manages the retail store, and most times will be the one who will answer your phone calls. Jane also has an interest in birds and garden ornaments, which she has brought into the store with a selection of bird and garden items in addition to the pond supplies.
